Miraj Films is a vibrant young company based in London. Its vision is to produce innovative and inspiring films through co-productions and to be a part of a new generation of filmmaking.
RAJITA SHAH started her career producing tough political and social short films, which have received critical acclaim and several awards. Her film 4 KILOMETERS which was shot on Bedouin Tribes in Israel was awarded by National Geographic and LADOO produced in collaboration with the Deaf Institute of Surat, India premiered at the Chicago Film Festival. Rajita also worked as a producer for the UK Film Council agency B3media on British short films JUBILEE , CRIMSON and LOST PARADISE which have premiered at prestigious festivals including premiere at BFI London film festival winning more than 15 awards and nominations.
Rajita produced her debut award winning feature film ZOHRA with non-actors set in Morocco directed by Golden Leopard winning director Barney Platts-Mills (Bronco Bullfrog, Private Road) which Premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival with critical acclaim.Thereafter, Rajita was also Associate Produced RATE ME directed by Fyzal Boulafia which won THE ILLY at Directors Fortnight in Cannes Film Festival in 2016, Special Jury Mention at TIFF and premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
In 2018, Rajita has just produced and completed post production on AND IT WAS THE SAME WITH MY SON on the true story of a mother who lost her son to radicalisation funded by UK Film Council & Film London’s ‘London Calling’. It will have its World Premiere at Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival in 2019.
Rajita has just completed filming feature film LOVE SARAH (in post production) starring Celia Imrie, Shannon Tarbet, Shelley Conn, Rupert Penry-Jones and Bill Patterson.
Feature Films on the company’s development slate include THE HURRICANES which was awarded MEDIA Development Single Project Funding award and another exciting project is the Psychological Drama UNTITLED PHILOMELA PROJECT, which has been supported by Pact and Skillset scholarships and has been developed with EAVE Producers Workshop 2016.
Rajita is also an alumni of EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs).
LORRAINE BHATTACHARY has a wealth of experience in script development and production finance. Lorraine started out in research for television followed by several years at a global advertising agency working across production and cost control. Working within the UK’s film training initiatives she promoted new filmmaking talent to the industry in the US and has worked as development executive on a number of film projects.
Joining Miraj Films in 2018, Lorraine is working as a production and development executive for the companies slate of projects and associate produced the upcoming feature film LOVE SARAH.
